The Coming of Spring
Sunlight gleams in the distance And ice creates glowing walls Snow comes down in this instance And water freezes instead of falls The winter wood is glowing Towers of ice almost reach the sky As the clouds darken and it keeps snowing Nothing moves through the forest And birds dare not to fly Suddenly footsteps waken That frozen wood all covered with snow The ground below becomes shaken As imprints begin to show Slowly, slowly the steps continue On this strange journey through the wood Will this forest ever awaken? Or will the ice remain frozen as it should? The figure continues slowly With its dark blue hood and slow tread Gently reaching to touch the branches But finding ice instead The clouds darken again in the distance And sunlight barely hits the sky As snow hurls through the air The shadows deepen on the horizon And the wood is thrown into despair There is no breeze The figure steps forward with its slow gait The ice crackles loudly in the trees Footsteps vanish at a slow rate And the hooded figure dissolves in peace into a snow filled haze A hush fills the trees No bird joins in chorus as their nests are filled with an icy glaze Will this wood awaken, or will it be doomed to freeze? Will the silence ever be shaken? And will flowers again grow on the forgotten trees? Silence continues to fill the forest As from the direction of the vanished figure comes a small breeze Perhaps there is some promise As one ray of light breaks through the overcast sky Somewhere a bird starts chirping And the trees begin to sigh The Snow Fairy Wind blows in every direction Leaves fly in the sky with no protection Torn from the trees By the late autumn breeze They twirl and swirl And create a tornado within the tall trees Bright butterflies lift up from the ground Their small wings create no sound A small woodland nymph sits on a log The forest begins to fill with fog Suddenly, the swirling increases Every bough of the trees suddenly creases The hollows of the trees fill with leaves A thundering sound echoes through the barren trees A strange light fills the glen A small red fox peeks out of its den Every brown mushroom seems to sparkle And the light forms a large circle A dark green dress fills the space Every inch of it is covered with lace Long hair flows down from the creature And wings on its back are an outstanding feature The fairy waves her hands And then the wood fills with snow as always planned The snow starts to sparkle and shine And the fairy flies away, admiring her design The Golden Valley
There is a golden valley where white swans are swimming Where life feels like it is just beginning Trees bask in the glow of the warm morning sun Secret winding paths can be found where young children run Cypresses line the drive to find this unrevealed valley One will find magic in this marvelous rural alley Magnificent trees and iridescent lily pads In gleaming waves, bright ponds are clad A silent, small brook runs to the right of a tall castle Where life swims by without much of a hassle The bright brown turrets are towering up above On one of them sits a cooing white mourning dove Large arches and red windows look over the beautiful valley below Where the water of the brook seems as if it is aglow Small purple flowers burst from the side of a small brook Where secrets drift by without a second look Leaves rustle and murmur in the low breeze As if whispering secrets in the tall, bright green trees Clouds flow and ebb in the brilliance of the light blue sky And the silvery fish are quietly swimming by Tall yellow, green grasses pop up on river banks Geese fly high in the sky in their ordered straight ranks Yes, life goes on quiet and slow For those who know how to stop and grow Blind
There is all this darkness No one can see The true meaning of life It is so real to me What people do not know As they go to and fro That there is a better meaning Than many of us know We yell about our thoughts And scream our true feelings But we forget about those deeper meanings We forget to see those around us We have no roads open to us And we remain blind Because we forgot to be kind The Channel
A large, graceful, white boat moves through the blue water The distance to the riverbank becomes shorter Long oars slowly push the vessel forward The occupants in the boat cannot be bothered Guiding the vessel in a mysterious rhythm towards the shore Moving slowly to feel the boat dock forevermore Lights illuminate the bright blue water in the dark channel The castle on the shore glows in the darkness like a bright candle Gray mist rises from the clear water in high columns Those in the boat did not anticipate the way to be filled with problems Waves become stronger as the stone towers fly up from the ground The black clouds in the background make a mysterious, chilling sound The dark green cypresses on the shore begin to shake The travelers realize perhaps that they made a mistake Flags on tall posts waver in the air Those in the water must take great care To keep traveling without a wrong turn To hold onto the hope of reaching the lanterns on the shore that burn They must travel without making a blunder As the ground below begins to shake and thunder |

Secrets
Shadows move through the glittering golden forest Birds sing in a deafening large chorus Voices echo in the sparkling burnt orange leaves Lights illuminate the background against the shadows of large trees Glitter shines like broken fairy dust Is there anyone that these blue and green shadows can trust? Trees grow tall like mighty giants Yet the shadows keep moving through the woods in silence Leaves whisper secrets of days of old The wind keeps speaking words that can never be told Will these shadows ever learn what is true? Or will they keep moving through the forest without a clue? |

The Castle
A castle stood upon a hill Some wondered if it would bring ill will Dark and foreboding it looked from outside Yet they never knew quite what was inside Those who tried to reach it often failed in their attempt Traveling along the dark curving roads that were rather unkempt Rocks and branches lay on the road What was in the castle? The secret lay untold There were many who tried The castle is unreachable, some of them lied Suddenly there were a few who succeeded The road below lay defeated Gaping- they stood staring at the battlements The castles last and best defense Their dreams had been attained There was one thing that remained Who would step inside? Not I, many of them cried Then two of them agreed They walked forward without much speed Their gait was slightly awkward As they slowly tiptoed forward Through the courtyard, down the empty halls Quietly touching the barren and cold walls What is that? One of them suddenly cried With eyes open wide A glitter came from a far room As they stepped closer they did not know what would meet them Happiness or doom? As they crept forward an incredible sight lay before them How did this happen and when? Through the crack of the door that was left slightly ajar There was a sight that defeated others by far Inside was a great space That did not seem to belong to any time or place A ballroom of sparkling diamonds and chandeliers that were bold The sight was too much to take in or even to hold This was some kind of a dream, too much to understand It was if they had landed on some strange and beautiful land Glasses tinkled and created prisms across the floor The sight they beheld was one like never before Tables were heaped with foods and wines These walls were covered with violet flowers and vines As the scene unfolded before their eyes They clasped hands tightly and let out small sighs Should we venture forth or turn back? One of them inquired Why not step forward? The other answered with eyes that were inspired We know not what the future may bring Most of us stay on a broken swing Had we not agreed to come and had stayed home Who knows how brightly our future may have shone? They stepped forward and did not turn around Who knows if they survived? The evidence was never found The castle still stands there to this day Many, to their dismay Never reach it during dark night or even day There were those who did not try hard enough The road was for the bold and tough Every adventurer that steps forward Is perhaps brave or a coward There are dreams hovering on the path covered in the mist The leaves on the trees look sun-kissed Castle battlements are seen from below Where does the path lead? There are only a few that know |

Fear
Fear is not a thought, but an emotion Surging from the murky ground like a deep rumbling ocean Twisting and creeping through the trees like dark green vines Covering with mist places where the sun usually shines Coming from the trees like a knight on a black horse Forcing all the gray mushrooms to grow from a verdant mossy source Pounding in the heart like a horse’s hooves Keeping the forest still so that nothing moves Beating leaves to a fine powder A sound moving slowly as it gets louder and louder Feeling lost in the woods with no escape Running with trepidation before it is too late Looking for that one ray of light on that turning bending road Hoping that there is still time to break the code To struggle with that clash of anxiety and emotion To win the swimming race before the forest becomes an ocean |
